Beckmann, inherited from the above, 1950; Dr. Frederick & Mrs. Norma Doob, New York, gift from the above, circa 1961; Private collection, New York, by descent from the above; Galerie St. Etienne, New York, 2003; Acquired by the present owner from the above, 2004. This drawing will be included in the catalogue raisonné of Max Beckmann's drawings currently being prepared by Dr. Stephan von Wiese and Hedda Finke, Berlin. We thank them for their invaluable cataloguing assistance. The work is a sketch for the larger ink drawing Badetreppe, signed and dated "Beckmann / 28 / Juli / Boulder (Co) 1949."
