Détails du Lot
Circle of Anders Zorn (Swedish, 1860-1920) Study of a seated figure Charcoal on paper 7-7/8 x 6-1/8 inches (20.0 x 15.6 cm) (sheet) Property from the William A. Glaser Collection PROVENANCE: Childs Gallery, Boston, Massachusetts (as Anders Zorn, circa 1906); Acquired by the present owner from the above, 2010. Scholars are divided regarding the attribution of this drawing. In a letter dated December 29, 2010, Johan Cedarlund of the Zornmuseet rejected the drawing as an autograph work, proposing instead that it was done simply in the manner of Zorn. Cedarlund reiterated this stance in an email from April 23, 2011, adding that his predecessor, Dr. Birgitta Sandström, reviewed the drawing in 1995 and also came to the determination that the work was not by Zorn's own hand. However, in email correspondence with Bill and Willow Hagans, authors of Zorn in America, dated January 19, 2011, the authors felt that the work was likely that of Zorn. The opinions of Cedarlund and Hagans were both given on the basis of photographs. HID12401132022 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
