Unlined canvas. A small area of very minor buckling to canvas near center of upper edge. Horizontal stretcher bar mark visible under raking light at center. Minor frame abrasion at edges. Extremely slight yellowing to the varnish layer. Faint, finely patterned craquelure throughout. Not examined out of frame. Under UV: varnish fluoresces green unevenly. Some brushy retouching at edges. Scattered dashes of finely applied retouching in the background, primarily affecting the green door at right, the upper portion of the table leg at left, and some areas of the wood-paneled interior in the background. Some additional dashes of finely applied retouching to the face and proper left arm of the rightmost child, and to a lesser extent, the nose, proper right eye, and proper right arm of the leftmost child.
