Affixed photographer's copyright reproduction limitation label, verso. The Sierra Maestra mountain range in Cuba served as the base for Fidel Castro and his revolutionary forces during the Cuban Revolution. After the failed attack on the Moncada Barracks, Castro and his surviving revolutionaries sought refuge in the Sierra Maestra. They established guerrilla operations, eventually leading to the overthrow of dictator Fulgencio Batista.
