Peggy Shannon (1907-1941) began her career as a Ziegfeld Girl in 1923 before moving on to Broadway productions. She was signed to Paramount Pictures and groomed by the studio as the newest "It Girl", replacing Clara Bow in the 1931 film, The Secret Call just two days after she arrived in Hollywood. After a brief spell on Broadway in the mid 1930s, she came back to Los Angeles, but her career was curtailed by her growing addition to alcohol which caused her premature death in 1941 aged only 34.
