PROVENANCE: The artist; Jay Dickman, gift from the above. As a young photojournalist with the Dallas Times Herald in 1974, I was always looking for Sunday Magazine story ideas. My love of New Mexico and admiration for legendary Southwestern photographer Laura Gilpin led to me calling her studio to propose that we worked together. Laura agreed to the project and, during the two days I spent with her, she was wonderfully patient and generous with her time. At the end of the last day, I asked if I could get images to run with the story and to my delight she told me I could keep the prints she found for me. She signed them all, making each so much more personal and special. Overall very good condition. Sheet does not illuminate under blacklight. Some unevenly dried development areas, commensurate with ferrotyping process. A few spots of crazing, and curling to the sheets top left corner. Sheet is loose, not framed.
