- From the important "Brücke" period, probably painted at the Moritzburg ponds or in Dangast. - Although sketch-like in character, the dense composition has an almost painterly expression. - A comparable charcoal drawing from the same year entitled "Gehölz" is in the Brücke Museum in Berlin.
The work is registered in the Erich Heckel Estate, Hemmenhofen on Lake Constance. We are grateful to Mrs Renate Ebner for the kind support in cataloging this lot.

In good condition. Tiny pinholes in the corners of the sheet. Isolated, small brown spots and slight creases along the sheet edges.
