An Unusual Luba Mask, Kifwebe Democratic Republic of Congo, c. 20th century Representing female characteristics, covered with concentric curvilinear grooves painted white. Eyes and mouth browned with pyrography. A notched and scored raised headband at crown. Unusual naturalistic ears, nose, and small mouth with lips parted as though vocalizing. Remains of netted fiber and raffia fringe tied through holes around perimeter. In very good condition, small areas of erosion.
