A Dan Wobe Mask Ivory Coast, c. 19th century Hardwood a brown color with blackening on front and trace remains of a white pigment. The face with bulging eyes with narrow slits in large, outlined sockets, mouth and nose raised high above the facial plane, bone teeth. The forehead with mirror image raised scarification marks. Two rows of metal bells and strands of red and white beads around lower half. Upper half with tightly bound vegetal fibers as coiffure, with a spiral braid at crown. In very good condition, flaking remains of pigments on eyes, high points rubbed.
