Essai
A Wari (Huari) Garment Panel Peru, c. 600-1000 AD Eight strips of woven camelid fibers sewn together, the figure in colorful shades of green, red, white, and tan. Framed in rectangles are five repeated images of a frontal standing figure, claw-like extensions off feet, hands raised, rectilinear head with pointed chin, large square eyes mouth showing teeth, and a long-necked creature or snake emerging from side of crown. The placement of colors on the figures follow no pattern, giving the piece a very contemporary, jazzy art aesthetic. In good condition, appropriate for age, origin, and mediums; loss and fraying especially on the bottom third. Framed and glazed. Provenance: Property from the Esther and Alan Saks Family Collection Dimensions: 21 ¼ x 17 ½ inches HID12401132022 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
